YWT #12- The Philadelphia Flyers Youth Movement
Travis Konecny played the period of his life in the third frame of Sunday’s late-afternoon game against the Washington Capitals. The youngster provided a previously sluggish Philadelphia Flyers squad with couple of blocked shots, a high stick, and a fight as the Flyers cruised past the Capitals 6-3.
Konecny will play like this on occasion, when he’s annoyed. He’ll get under the opponents’ skin (a la Brad Marchand), and he’ll put the puck in the net to top it off. He knows how to draw penalties, but will occasionally take a few dumb minors himself. But Saturday’s effort is exactly the kind of player they need Konecny to be come playoff season. This Flyers team has looked flat on occasion, and the 21-year-old left wing provides a spark that few others on the team can match.
On this week’s You Would Think, the guys talk about Konecny quite a lot, as well as breaking down the development of Travis Sanheim, and the offensive break out of Oskar Lindblom.
Oh, and there’s also a little bit of Philadelphia Eagles news and, of course, Seven or Six Seconds.
