Brock Boeser Out With Lower-Body Injury
Update: Rick Dhaliwal of Sportsnet 650 reports that a source within the Vancouver Canucks said about the Brock Boeser injury “Not career threatening and not a serious injury, but can’t see him playing again this season. Best to shut him down, there will be a few weeks of discomfort”
The Vancouver Canucks announced that right winger Brock Boeser is sidelined for an indeterminate time with a lower-body injury.

Brock Boeser Injured
The injury occurred during the game against the New York Islanders. During the final period, Boeser went in for a hit on Cal Clutterbuck and proceeded to land awkwardly on his back against the Canuck bench door, which was open for a change. Boeser immediately went to the ice after appearing to hit his tailbone or hip on the door frame. He lay nearly motionless on the ice, only indicating the pain in his lower back after going down. He was still on the ice for a few minutes afterword. The young forward waved off medical attention but a stretcher was called from the locker room. Boeser was then taken to hospital for further treatment and evaluation. The Canucks will release an update in the coming days.
This is catastrophic for the Canucks, as so far this season, the NHL All-Star has scored 29 goals and 26 assists for 55 points. He leads the Canucks and has been a favorite in the Calder trophy race. He also added 16 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 48.3 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 0.5.
The Minnesota born was originally drafted by the Canucks in the 1st round, 23rd overall of the 2015 NHL draft.Over his two-year NHL career with them, he has yet to play a full season.Boeser has however put up an impressive 33 goals and 27 assists for 60 career points in 70 career games.
Coach Travis Green said that he was taken to the hospital for “precautionary” reasons and that the team hopes that it is just a bruise.
What This Means for the Future
This is a big loss for the Canucks, as the 21-year-old is currently first in points and goals (ten of these being powerplay goals) for the team. He is also second in assists below Henrik Sedin. The Canucks are 25-32-9 and hold second to the last place in the Pacific Division. However, with Boeser’s help, they had hoped to bolster their position before the end of the season. This can be considered the final nail in the coffin for the Canucks season. For Boeser, this injury may take a long time to heal if serious.
