Tonight the Belleville Senators host the Binghamton Devils and the NHL goaltender they have on loan from the New Jersey Devils. Cory Schneider suffered an injury during his NHL season and was assigned to the Devils AHL affiliate for conditioning purposes on Tuesday.
The start in net for Schneider means that he is on the mend and nearing a return to action with the New Jersey Devils. The 31-year-old netminder was present for the AHL’s Devils morning skate Tuesday and is listed as the starter for the AHL game in Belleville, Ontario. Fantasy owners are advised to stay patient with the veteran who has crafted a robust .921 save percentage over 365 career games between the Canucks and Devils.
Cory Schneider Loaned to Binghamton to face Belleville Senators
Schneider posted a 17-11-6 record before suffering a groin injury against the Boston Bruins on January 23rd, 2018. In 35 games this season, he has put up a 2.79 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. He also has one shutout.
Schneider has spent 10 seasons in the NHL, five with the Devils and five with the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks drafted Schneider in the first round, 26th overall, at the 2004 NHL Draft. He was traded to New Jersey at the 2013 NHL Draft, with the 9th overall pick (Bo Horvat) heading to Vancouver in return.
