Key Players

In Stastny, the Jets acquire a top forward who has the ability to add another top scorer to the Jets. This season he scored 12 goals and 28 assists for 40 points this year. He also added 14 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers are 55.2 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 5.29. These totals are better compared to last season, where he scored 18 goals and 22 assists. Over his 12 year NHL career he has played for the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues. He has put up 216 goals and 417 assists for 633 career points in 805 career games. He was originally drafted in the second round, 14th overall of the 2005 NHL draft by the Colorado Avalanche.

Foley, 20, was drafted by the Jets in the third round, 78th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft. He has 15 goals and 34 points in 32 games with Providence College this season, his junior year of college. The left wing is 6’0 and 185 pounds.

What this Means for the Future

Getting Stastny will help the Jets offensively and adds another top forward to the deep top nine of the Jets. With 55 games of playoff experience, he adds a calming presence to the Jets dressing room, invaluable for a young team that has yet to win a playoff game in their return to Winnipeg.
