Winnipeg Jets defenseman Ben Chiarot has been fined $3,763.44 for butt ending Corey Perry. This is the maximum fine that a player can receive, according to the collective bargaining agreement, for this offense.

Chiarot, 26, was fined for butt ending Perry when the Jets took on the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night. Chiarot hit Perry with the butt end of his stick in the chin, leaving Perry with a mark and bloodied.
This all started when Perry pushed Chiarot from behind in front of the Winnipeg net. Chiarot turned around and pushed Perry back, sizing him up. When they decided to take the pushing match to the next level, Chiarot butt ended Perry in the chin.
As seen from the video Perry was immediately bleeding from the area. Pictures have since been posted showing off the cut in the shape of the butt end of a stick.
Chiarot was fined within 24 hours, impressive turnaround for a decision on the matter. But when you take the evidence on hand into account, there was really no argument to be made in favor of Chiarot.
There has been no word on whether or not Chiarot will be suspended. However, with a fine being issued and no suspension along with it, it is highly unlikely that he will see any further punishment for the incident.
Chiarot has played in four games with the Jets in 2017-18. During this time he has not recorded a single point and has four penalty minutes. He has played in 174 career NHL games, scoring five goals and adding 25 assists to his career total.
Chiarot played in 59 games with the Jets in 2016-17, scoring two goals and having 10 assists. The season before that he played in a career-high 70 games, scoring once and adding nine assists to his career total.
