The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed forward Tye McGinn to a one-year, two-year contract. Mcginn skated in 21 games with Lightning affiliate Syracuse Crunch of the AHL last season. During his time there he posted 10 goals and 19 points alongside 16 penalty minutes.

Vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman made the announcement Thursday evening that the Lightning re-signed forward McGinn.
The 6’3″, 205-pound forward missed most of the regular season because of a shoulder injury just two games into the regular season. He made his return to the roster in March and finished the short season with 19 points in 21 games.

Out of his ten goals, four of them came from the powerplay. He also skated in 22 Calder Cup Playoff games with Syracuse, tallying five goals and 16 points. McGinn has appeared in 256 career AHL games over the last five seasons, collecting just 76 goals and 142 points. McGinn scored, probably, the best goal in Crunch history when his game-winning goal during the second overtime period against St. John’s in Game Two lifted the Crunch to victory in the semifinals.
Born in Fergus, Ontario, McGinn has skated in 89 career NHL games, including, but not limited to, two games with the Lightning during the 2015-16 regular season. Going along with 44 penalty minutes, McGinn has racked up nine goals and notched 17 points in his career.
The Ontario native played a huge part of the team’s demeanor and lack of panic when the team seemed to be going sideways. He was also credited by those he played with for his hard work.
He made his NHL debut on November 1, 2015, against the Carolina Hurricanes. McGinn was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fourth round, 119th overall, during the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
The Bolts open their 2017 season with a home game against in-state rival Florida Panthers on October 6.
