Avtomobilist in the KHL has signed Dwight King. The 27-year-old has agreed to a two year deal. King adds a lot of strength to the bottom six, and a lot of veteran experience. While he won’t light up the scoreboard, he’ll help with depth issues.

Dwight King Signs with Avtomobilist in the KHL
King was traded to the Montreal Canadiens at the deadline this past season. In exchange, the Los Angeles Kings got a conditional fourth round pick in 2018. King went on to play in 17 games with the Habs, but only had one point, a goal. During the post-season he went scoreless in six games.
Before he was traded, King had 15 points in 63 games with the Kings. This was a bit better than his previous seasons, but still not great. The 27-year-old is no a scorer. He’s been fairly inconsistent, and has only had two seasons where he’s played 81 games. Originally a fourth round pick in 2007, King has been a strong presence on the bottom lines for the Kings.
His rookie season, 2011-12, also saw him winning his first Stanley Cup. That year, King played in 27 regular season games and registered 14 points. During the playoffs, he had eight points in 20 games. He won another Stanley Cup with LA in 2014, which was another great season for him. He set a career high of 30 points in 77 games that season. In the playoffs he was also very useful, and had 11 points in 26 games.
With only 16 total points this past year, King is showing once again that he’s struggling to stay consistent. While he is a big addition to the his new clubs bottom six, he will need to be able to produce on the scoreboard as well if he wants a bigger contract on his next deal.
