Right winger Nino Niederreiter has re-signed with the Minnesota Wild. The contract is worth $26.25 million over five years, for an average annual value (AAV) of $5.25 per season. Niederreiter just finished his sixth season in the NHL. He was drafted fifth overall by the New York Islanders in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He spent two seasons on Long Island before being traded to Minnesota. There, Niederreiter has seen his performance and fame rise over the past four seasons.

He spent two seasons on Long Island before reportedly requesting a trade. Niederreiter was dealt to the Minnesota Wild in the summer of 2013 for Cal Clutterbuck and a third-round pick. In St. Paul, Niederreiter has seen his performance and fame rise over the past four seasons.
Nino Niederreiter Re-Signs With Minnesota Wild
Niederreiter, a left-handed right winger from Switzerland, is among the league’s strong crop of 20-year-old studs. “El Niño” is just 24 years old and has a knack for scoring. In each of the past three seasons, Niederreiter has scored at least 20 goals. Over the past four years, he has steadily improved. His assist total has risen by 10 and total point by 20. He was a big part of Minnesota’s offense the past three years, especially this past season. He set career highs with 25 goals and 57 points in 2016-17. That was good for fourth on his team and top 50 in the league scoring.
As well as a big body who has a shoot-first mentality and great ability for the spectacular play, Niederreiter is a physical player with durability as he has only missed three games in the past four seasons. Niederreiter has the ability and skill to score 30 goals consistently in the NHL and the Wild will be looking for him to do just that.
He will be receiving a significant pay raise, coming off of a three-year, $8 million contract with the Wild. Niederreiter has earned his new contract where he will look to build off an already successful career.
