Ryan Dzingel Re-Signs with Ottawa Senators

Ryan Dzingel

American born left wing Ryan Dzingel has re-signed with the Ottawa Senators. He has signed a two-year deal, worth $3.6 million.  The deal carries an AAV or cap hit of $1.8 million per season.  The deal comes as the two sides were set to start an arbitration hearing today.

Dzingel will enter his third year in the NHL after being drafted in 2011 and spending three years in the AHL. He played for the Binghamton Senators there from 2013 to parts of the 2015 season before being called up. In the short call up stint, Dzingel was able to score nine points in 30 games of his first NHL season. Las year Dzingel played in all but one regular season game and amassed 32 points. Dzingel will now be looked at as a dependable depth winger for this team down the road.

Ryan Dzingel Re-Signs with Senators

Dzingel is a 25-year-old winger entering his third NHL season. He previously played not only in the AHL, but for Ohio State University from 2011-2014. In those three seasons for the Buckeyes he totaled 45 goals and 108 points. It is clear to see that Dzingel is not a prolific goal scorer, but instead a steady and reliable set up man. Over his career he has tallied more assists than goals at every single level. Last year, as a bottom six forward he provided good production with over 30 points; almost 20 of them were on assists. Dzingel has a knack for finding open teammates and setting up goals. However, he is also a more than capable goal scorer who totaled 14 in his first full NHL season.

He is also a high motor player who the Senators will continue to rely on to provide energy and strong play on a bottom line. He has good skating ability and versatility which will be used creatively by the Senators in the coming years.

Dzingel has now received his third NHL contract with his new deal. His first was his two year, $1.8 million entry level deal. This was followed by a one year, $750,000 deal for this past season. His new deal provides him with an opportunity to grow as a player and develop while still producing for the coming years in Ottawa.
