Defenseman Michael Stone has re-signed with thee Calgary Flames. The three year deal is worth $10.5 million. It has an average annual value, or cap hit, of $3.5 million. Stone split is 2016-17 season with the Arizona Coyotes and Flames after being traded to Calgary prior to the NHL Trade deadline.

Calgary Flames Re-Sign Michael Stone
27-year-old defenseman Michael Stone will return to play with the Calgary Flames for three more years according to the recent reports. Stone earned one goal in the Flames’ first round post-season exit and earned six points his 19 regular season games with the team.
Stone, originally drafted 69th overall in the 2008 NHL Draft, spent the first five and half years of his NHL career with the Arizona Coyotes. In 2015-16, Stone earned a career high of 36 points through 75 games played. His performance that year earned him a $4 million contract extension with Arizona.
Stone joined the Flames on February 20th, 2017 in exchange for a 2017 third-round draft pick and conditional fifth-round draft pick in 2018. Flames general manager, Brad Treliving stated that Stone was a good fit for the Flames in an early post-season interview with SportsNet.
Stone has played parts of six seasons in the NHL. In 343 career NHL games he has 26 goals and 76 assists for 102 career points. He also has 210 career penalty minutes. Stone has also played in six career Stanley Cup Playoff games with that one goal to his name. He was originally drafted by the then-Phoenix Coyotes in the third round, 69th overall of the 2008 NHL draft. His brother Mark Stone is a winger with the Ottawa Senators.
Stone is likely to anchor the Flames’ third D-pairing come fall.
