Just five days after taking him in the NHL Expansion Draft, the Vegas Golden Knights have flipped Marc Methot to the Dallas Stars.  The Golden Knights get the Stars second round selection in the 2020 NHL Draft, and 18-year-old goaltender Dylan Ferguson in the deal.

Scott Burnside was first with the news.

Methot has spent the last five seasons of his career with the Ottawa Senators. He has mainly played a stay-at-home role beside perennial Norris Trophy contender Erik Karlsson. This past season Methot had 12 points in 68 games. Methot also added two goals and four points in 18 playoff games, and helped the Senators force the Penguins to double overtime in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final.  He missed time at the end of the season due to a severed finger tip suffered after a Sidney Crosby slash. Methot carries a $4.8 million cap hit and has two years remaining on his contract.

Methot was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was taken in 6th round, 168th overall of the 2003 NHL Draft. Methot, 32, has played in 11 NHL seasons. He has 21 goals and 99 assists for 120 points in 579 career games. Methot has also added 343 career penalty minutes.

Dylan Ferguson was drafted by the Stars on Saturday. He was taken in the 7th Round, 194th overall. He had a .922 save percentage in 31 games with the Kamloops Blazers last season.
