Just days after saying that they won’t be bringing back captain Shane Doan, the Arizona Coyotes have parted ways with long-time head coach Dave Tippett. It was reported by TSN’s Bob McKenzie that they were going to part ways. He also indicated that there has been a bit of a rift between owner Andrew Barroway and Tippett.

Arizona Coyotes Part Ways with Dave Tippett
Shortly after McKenzie tweeted this, the Coyotes confirmed it. They released a statement on their team website from owner Andrew Barroway. Part of it says that (via the teams website), “On behalf of the Coyotes organization, I would like to sincerely thank Tip for all of his hard work and the many contributions he made to our organization. Ultimately, we have some philosophical differences on how to build our team. Therefore, we mutually agreed that it is in everyone’s best interest to have a coaching change in order to move our franchise forward.”
Tippett was named the Coyotes head coach in September of 2009. He has not made the playoffs in the last five seasons. Tippett was 282-257-83 as head coach of the team and led them to the playoffs three times as the coach. The closest they got to the Stanley Cup Final was in the 2011-2012 season when they got to the Western Conference Final. The Coyotes lost to the Kings in five games that year.
The search for a new coach will start right away for the Coyotes. They are the only team without a coach right now. The Buffalo Sabres hired Phil Housley as their head coach a little over a week ago. There will definitely be candidates that will be popping up in Arizona in the coming days, though no decision has yet been made.
