Tyler Toffoli Re-Signs with Los Angeles Kings
The Scarborough, Ontario native has enjoyed quick success in his young NHL career. He has one career Stanley Cup victory as well as two 20+ goal seasons. Just five seasons in, Toffoli emerged as a critical offensive component for the Kings. He is a quick skater who possesses a lethal and accurate wrist shot. This past season, as Toffoli entered his contract year, he and the Kings were looking for more however injury saw him miss almost twenty games.
In the 2016-2017 season, Toffoli under-performed by only scoring 16 goals and 34 total points. These numbers were significantly down from his 2015 campaign where he scored 31 goals and almost 60 points. Although he had a down year, his potential as a goal scorer is off the charts. Toffoli has the ability and skill to be a consistent 30 goal scorer. The twenty-five year old sharpshooter is one of the league’s rising young guns and will only get better.
After his initial three year entry level contract, Toffoli was given a contract worth $6.5 million over the past two seasons ($3.25 million AAV). After playing well along side multiple centermen including Jeff Carter and Anze Kopitar, Toffoli has earned his new contract with the Kings. Toffoli figures to be a key part of the team’s offensive plan moving forward.
