Roman Josi Leads Nashville Predators to Game 3 Win

Despite the tight score, Nashville dominated most of the game. They out shot the Ducks 40-20 and were in control from the drop of the puck. The Predators also owned the face off circle. Nashville won 56% of the draws and went one for four with the man advantage.

The Predators trailed 1-0 entering the third period. Corey Perry scored for the Ducks in the second frame on the power play. The Ducks forward beat Pekka Rinne from a bad angle to give Anaheim a lead heading into the final period. It didn’t take the Predators long to even the score in the third. Filip Forsberg scored 3:54 seconds into the third period. It was the Nashville forwards 6th marker of the post-season.

With 16:05 gone in the third, Chris Wagner took a high-sticking penalty. Roman Josi made the Ducks pay, giving the Predators the win and a 2-1 series lead.

Controversy Avoided

With the game tied, the Predators had a pair of goals disallowed eight seconds apart. The first came off the stick of Colton Sissons with 13:35 left in the third. The referee waved the goal off immediately. However, the officials did review it and deemed the call was correct. Just eight seconds later, the same thing happened. This time, not only was the goal disallowed, the Predators received a penalty. Matthias Ekholm crashed into John Gibson, negating the goal scored by Ryan Johansen. Predators fans littered the ice with towels following a second straight no-goal call.

Smashville Strong

With the win, the Predators remain a perfect 6-0 at home in the playoffs. Nashville has not lost at Bridgestone Arena since April 4th when they fell 2-1 in OT to the New York Islanders. The Nashville defensemen also continued their stellar post season. Three Predators blue liners picked up points in the game. Nashville defensemen have recorded 36 points in 13 playoff games. Game 4 in this series is set for Friday night.
