OTPP: Conference Finals, Changes in Washington, KHL Invasion and More

Last Word on Sports is proud to present their hockey podcast, On the Power Play with Ben and Dave. Join Ben Kerr and Dave Gove each week as they take a look around the Hockey World focusing on the big issues of the NHL and elsewhere.

OTPP: Conference Finals, Changes in Washington, KHL Invasion and More

The defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins take on the upstart Ottawa Senators in the Eastern Conference Final. Can Erik Karlsson lead the Senators to another upset, and a spot in the Stanley Cup Final? Will Sidney Crosby continue his playoff dominance over the Senators? Is this the round that things come crashing down for Marc-Andre Fleury? Can Bobby Ryan and Jean-Gabriel Pageau keep scoring?

Out west, its the Anaheim Ducks and Nashville Predators in the Western Conference Final. Is Nashville’s defence core of P.K. Subban, Roman Josi, Ryan Ellis, and Mattias Ekholm, enough to shut down the strong play of Ryan Getzlaf, Jakub Silfverberg, Corey Perry, and Ryan Kesler?

The boys also discuss the recent trades and signings of Scott Darling in Carolina, and Ben Bishop in Dallas. Do these players solve the issues for their teams?

They also look at a number of recent KHL defections. Vadim Shipachyov has signed in Vegas; Ilya Kovalchuk and Evgeni Dadonov both appear NHL bound; and the Blackhawks and Habs have made KHL signings. Who else could come over and make an impact?

Lastly the boys discuss the repercussions of the NHL Draft Lottery.  What does all the change at the top mean?

All that and more in this edition of On the Power Play.
