Reports from the Dallas Stars brought a fitting cap to their season with another update to the injury list. The victim this time? Tyler Seguin.

According to reports, the injury flared up earlier this year and bothered Seguin throughout the season. This injury marks another setback list for the Dallas Stars center. In 2016 Seguin suffered from a lacerated Achilles tendon, and injuries to the calf and heel. The team had to play without him for most their playoff run, as he suited up in just one contest through the Stars’ run to Game 7 of the Western Conference Second Round.

“He’s in a sling the next two to four weeks, and then the next month he can slowly get back at the rehab,” said Jim Nill, general manager for the Dallas Stars. Seguin is expected to make a full recovery in four months and be ready for training camp in September.

The Brampton native scored 72 points to lead the Stars in the 2016-17 season. Seguin also tied Jamie Benn with 26 goals for most on the team. There’s no doubt the Stars will need Seguin to be in peak physical condition to help tweak the team back in shape, as they finished with a rather disappointing 79 points to finish 24th after winning the regular season Western Conference last year finishing second overall to the Washington Capitals. A big part of their decline was the injury bug, as they lost over 250 man-games to setbacks and it would’ve been more if Seguin did not play through this nagging injury.

Since arriving in Dallas, the now-25-year old Seguin has been nothing short of a superstar. His first three years in “Big D” saw him score 30+ goals and 70+ points, turning in another solid campaign this season despite the circumstances. the former 2nd overall pick will be looking to rebound for the 2017-18 season and lead the charge for Dallas back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
