Artem Anisimov Injured In Chicago Blackhawks Win

While the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Montreal Canadiens and moved back into first place in the Central Division, the team lost forward Artem Anisimov to injury. Anisimov was injured late in the first period after he was shoved into the boards and fell down, where his left leg was pinned and fallen on by Habs forward Alexander Radulov. Anisimov needed help getting off the ice by his teammates and Blackhawks medical staff and was last seen hobbling down the tunnel on one leg. After the game, the Blackhawks announced that Anisimov would only be “day-to-day” with injury, however after further examination by medical staff, it has been determined that Anisimov will miss 3-4 weeks due to injury.

Artem Anisimov Injured In Chicago Blackhawks Win

Anisimov was in the middle of his best season of his career. Last night, his 64th game this season, he earned his 23rd assist, giving him a season total of 45 points. His last best season was 44 points and that was in 2010-11 with the New York Rangers. His 22 goals this season ranks him in third on the team behind Patrick Kane (31) and Artemi Panarin (23). Since his injury requires him to be sidelined for 3-4 weeks, it is likely that he will not return to the Blackhawks lineup until the beginning of the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Best case scenario, he returns after three weeks just in time for the final few regular season games.

The 28-year-old Yaroslavl, Russia native has played nine season in the National Hockey League after being drafted 54th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. In his career, Anisimov has skated in a total of 553 games, tallying 128 goals and 151 assists.
