The Arizona Coyotes have traded defenseman Michael Stone to the Calgary Flames, in exchange for a third round pick and conditional fifth.

Michael Stone Traded to the Calgary Flames
The Winnipeg native was drafted 69th overall in the third round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the then Phoenix Coyotes. Stone made his NHL debut in the 2011-12 season, joining the team in a full aspect during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season.
During his six years in the NHL Stone has played in 324 games, all with the Coyotes organization. During these six years he has scored 24 goals and added 72 assists for a total of 96 points. Stone has one goal and nine points in 45 games this season.
The 26-year old Stone missed the preseason and first three games of the regular season while recovering from a knee injury sustained near the end of the 2015-16 season that required surgery. He also missed several games in October and November to an upper-body injury sustained against the Philadelphia Flyers. He currently has the second-highest average time on ice per game for the Coyotes, behind his defense partner Alex Goligoski.
Stone’s current cap hit is $4 million per season. He re-signed the one-year deal with Arizona in the off-season as a restricted free agent, narrowly avoiding arbitration. He will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. The Coyotes will be retaining half of Stone’s salary, making him easier to fit under the Flames cap.
