This is Vigneault’s fourth season as the Rangers bench boss. He took over for John Tortorella in 2013.

He has a record of 295-175-97 behind the Rangers bench, and, has made the playoffs in each of his first three seasons. In his first year, he coached the team all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. But, they fell to the Los Angeles Kings in five games.

Alain Vigneault previously coached the Vancouver Canucks where he also lead them to a Stanley Cup final in 2011, but fell short to the Boston Bruins. He won the Jack Adams award in his first season behind the Canucks bench back in 2006-07.

Over his coaching career, he has racked up a .596 points percentage, which is good for 32nd in league history.

Despite the struggles of Henrik Lundqvist, Alain Vigneault has managed to keep his Rangers in a playoff position. New York holds the top Wild Card spot in the East with 63 points. They are two points back of the Pittsburgh Penguins for second in the Metropolitan division.

The 31-17-1 Rangers take on the Columbus Blue Jackets Tuesday night in their first game after the All-Star break.
