Nazem Kadri Not Suspended For Hit on Daniel Sedin

In Saturday nights game the Toronto Maple Leafs took on the Vancouver Canucks in a heated game that resulted in 171 penalty minutes. Despite all the penalties, the main thing being spoken about is the hit from Nazem Kadri on Canucks left wing Daniel Sedin.

As Sedin scored his goal, Kadri skated towards him and blind-sided him forcing Sedin’s helmet off and resulting in his head pounding against the ice.

Kadri received a five minute charging major following the hit, but will not receive any other punishment following this harsh hit.

According to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet, the play was reviewed by the NHL’s department of player safety and was deemed that Kadri made direct contact with Sedin’s shoulder as opposed to his head.

Kadri has been suspended three times by the NHL’s department of player safety for two diving fines and for making a throat-slashing gesture toward Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano. His latest suspension came in April 2016.

The Vancouver Canucks have made a public statement indicatintg that they disagree with the NHL’s decision.
