Robert Hagg Re-Signs With the Philadelphia Flyers
Over his short NHL career, Haag has played for solely for the Flyers. Since he was originally drafted by them in the second round, 41st overall of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, he has put up three goals and six assists for nine career points in 71 career games.
In this rookie season, he also added 32 minutes in penalties. Hagg’s possession numbers were 44.7 percent Corsi-For and a relative Corsi of -6.9. Hagg played in just two Stanley Cup Playoff Games as the Flyers fell in the first round to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Before this, Hagg had a solid time in the AHL with 16 career goals and 34 assists totaling 50 points in 202 career games.
What This Means for the Future.
The 23-year old was expected the play a full 82 games last season, but it seems the Swedish native fell out of favour since returning from an injury sustained in March. Haag’s pairing with Shayne Gostisbehere since the comeback was uncoordinated at best. Considered a “seasoned rookie” who is calm and consistent is exactly what the Flyers need going into the 2017-18 season. With this contract, Haag can easily find a role again within the team. If he can find a partner with a little more chemistry, Haag can easily prove to be a valuable asset for Philadelphia.
