Two weeks after the exciting 2017 class recruits found their new homes for the next few years, coaches have already moved on to looking at the 2018 class. Recruiting starts early and Ohio State has already made a strong case for having another great class. So far, Ohio State already has three hard commits in the 2018 class, two five-stars and one four-star. All three players are ranked in the 247sports top 61 players and bring talent to both sides of the field. While it is still too early to really judge how good these players will be, or even if they will stay at Ohio State, here is the way-too-early Ohio State 2018 recruiting report.

Emory Jones
The five-star recruit out of Heard County, Georgia is the highest rated dual-threat quarterback in the 2018 class. Emory Jones stands at 6’2″ tall and weighs 193 lbs. The junior committed to Ohio State in July of 2016 after receiving offers from Clemson, Georgia, Penn State, and Tennessee. Jones’ best attributes are his arm strength and speed. Jones ran a 4.67 40-yard dash and benches 245 lbs.
When J.T. Barrett leaves Ohio State at the end of the season, Jones could be in the mix for starting in 2018. With a solid blend of what Tate Martell and Dwayne Haskins bring to the table, Jones could very well be right in the mix of it all in 2018.
Jaiden Woodbey
The other five-star recruit Ohio State has been able to get to commit is Jaiden Woodbey. Woodbey is a safety from California that like Jones, had offers from the best schools in the country. These schools include Alabama, Florida State, Washington, USC, Michigan, and Colorado. The 6’2″ and 206 lb. safety isn’t known for his up-down speed, but is very quick moving side-to-side. His 4.61 40-yard dash is impressive, but his 4.1 shuttle run and 39″ vertical are even more impressive.
With so many safeties on the roster, Woodbey would either have to red-shirt or transfer if he wants playing time. However, if the seven current safeties that Ohio State brought in do not pan out this season, Woodbey could come in with a good shot at getting playing time in 2018.
Brian Snead
The last recruit that Ohio State has been able to secure in the 2018 class is Brian Snead. The four-star running back committed just a week before Jones did in 2016. He is more of a power back, standing at 5’11” and 195 lbs. Snead has never been known for speed, but has great power and the vision needed to be a calm and composed three-down back at the collegiate level.
With all the talent at running back already on the roster, Snead will also likely have to red-shirt for a year and may even have to use a few years of eligibility sitting behind Mike Weber. Snead will also have to fight with J.K. Dobbins for carries when he gets to Ohio State.
