Possible Quarterback of the Future
Even before the advent of the transfer portal Kentucky hasn’t had a consistent starting quarterback they recruited as a starter in a long time. In fact you must go back to 2015 when the combination of Patrick Towles and Drew Barker helmed the Cats. Since then Stephen Johnson, Terry Wilson, Will Levis, and Devin Leary helped lead Mark Stoops’ club to a school record eight straight bowl games. However, the 2024 class features a player many think is the QB of the future. Let’s introduce you to him as Kentucky signs four-star Cutter Boley.
Local Star Stays Home
The 6-5, 203-pound quarterback originally started his high school career at Larue County in Hodgenville, Kentucky. During the 2021 season, he threw for 1,391 yards and 11 touchdowns. Boley transferred to Lexington Christian Academy for the 2o22 year. During that campaign, he completed 64 percent of his passes Boley threw for 3,901 yards and 36 touchdowns.
Boley committed to Kentucky on May 18th choosing the Cats over Florida State, Michigan, Penn State, and Tennessee. He developed a good relationship when Liam Coen was here during his first stint at Kentucky. Reportedly when Coen left the Los Angeles Rams Boley’s interest in staying home waned somewhat. However, with the offensive coordinator back in tow he quickly rebuilt that relationship securing the commitment. In addition, he announced he was reclassifying to the 2024 class and plans to enroll in January.
His senior season numbers were down some as he threw for 2,187 yards and 24 touchdowns. He led the Eagles to an 11-2 record and the second round of the Class 2A playoffs where they lost to perennial state power Mayfield.
247 Sports ranks Boley as the third best player in Kentucky. Ironically the top two players are his future teammates Jacob and Jerod Smith of Corbin. Overall 247 puts him as the 20th best quarterback in the country and 237th best player overall.

Time To Learn
At the beginning, we talked about how the Wildcats have relied heavily on transfers. For the short term, at least that trend looks to continue. Leary’s final game will be in the upcoming Gator Bowl. In addition, reserves Kaiya Sheron and Destin Wade have entered the portal with Wade already finding a new home at Colorado. That leaves only Deuce Hogan and Shane Hamm returning for 2024.
To that end UK found their new quarterback in Georgia transfer Brock Vandagriff. The Cats also have a returning Beau Allen as another option at quarterback. He started his career with Kentucky before transferring. Most likely Vandagriff plays a couple of years and then hands the keys to the castle off to Boley. UK also has another star quarterback for the 2025 class in Stone Saunders from Pennsylvania.
