Week Six Winners From the Big 12

Week Six Winners

Most of the Big 12 members appear that they will not be able to rise to the top this season. With many closely matched teams, finding consistent winners won’t be easy. Last week’s winners were a mixed bag. The good; Moneyline picks went 4-2. The bad; Totals went only 3-3. The ugly; against the spread picks went an abysmal 1-5. But the week six winners from the Big 12 give another opportunity to bounce back. As always, all lines/totals are reflected in the most common number across multiple sports books at the time of publication.

Season Record Totals: 21-23

Lock Of The Week: 2-0

Kansas State (-11.5) At Oklahoma State

The week six winners get started early with a Friday night showdown in Stillwater. Both of these teams are coming off of their bye weeks. The Cowboys appear done with the revolving door at the quarterback position. It was announced early this week Alan Bowman would be the starter against the Wildcats. And while Mike Gundy has at least put that issue to bed for one week, it will not matter. Oklahoma State has been a mess all season. Even with the home crowd at their back, a fresh Kansas State team will come to town and control this game from start to finish.

#12 Oklahoma Vs #3 Texas (-6.5)

Red River is always one of the most fun games of the college football season. The split stadium with the state fair backdrop is such a great spectacle. This year, the game finally has some real stakes other than bragging rights. Texas wants to send a message to the college football world. A decisive win against a rejuvenated Oklahoma team would do just that. But the Sooners are also undefeated and appear to be much improved from last year.

The lock of the week is going to be found in the total of this game. These teams have gone over 60.5 in five of the last six matchups. The one time was last year when Texas scored 49 and Oklahoma forgot to have a game plan for its backup QB. Expect plenty of points in a game that is back-and-forth for the first three quarters. However, Texas’ firepower will allow the Longhorns to pull away in the fourth quarter. This win likely will push Steve Sarkisian’s team to the top spot in the next AP poll.

UCF At Kansas (-1.5)

This game appears to be a battle of the backup quarterbacks. Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels is still battling a back injury. UCF quarterback John Rhys Plumlee has had his first practice reps this week since sustaining a leg injury against Boise State but is unlikely to play. But even without their starting quarterbacks, both teams should still be able to score plenty against each other. The mental impact of blowing the game to Baylor is going to still be lingering just a little for the Knights. Kansas leans on the home-field advantage and keeps UCF from getting their first Big 12 victory.

Texas Tech (-1.5) At Baylor

In Waco, two desperate teams square off in an in-state rivalry game. If Joey McGuire’s or Dave Aranda’s team is going to make a pushback toward the top of the standings, their team has to win this one. As long as Texas Tech keeps the ball from slipping away into Baylor’s, they will prevail.

TCU (-6.5) At Iowa State

The week six winners conclude Saturday night in Ames. The Horned Frogs and Cyclones are both coming off of losses. So which one of these teams gets back to the win column? TCU has not been all that consistent. However, Iowa State’s lone win over a FBS school came against a down Oklahoma State team. With each passing year since 2020, Matt Campbell’s team is looking more like the Iowa State team many Big 12 fans had known for the previous two decades. Don’t expect a very pretty game between these two. But TCU should bounce back on the road.
