Mathias Barnwell Signs with Penn State
Four-star athlete Mathias “Mega” Barnwell signs with Penn State. The Fredericksburg, VA native is a four-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite ranking. In addition, he is the eighth-ranked player out of Virginia and the 23 ranked athlete in the nation. He can block as a tight end and comes off the edge well to catch the ball. He will likely be one of the next big targets in a deep tight end room for the Nittany Lions.
Barnwell Breakdown
He is listed as an athlete, but Barnwell will come to Penn State as a tight end. The tight end is listed as six-foot-six inches and 250 lbs. He had offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State to name a few. Mega also plays basketball which helps with ball awareness and is great for tight ends. He will join the ranks of great Penn State tight ends. The Nittany Lions have been churning out tight ends as of late tracking back to Jesse James and Mike Gesicki. Barnwell can track the ball well and is a great pass catcher.
He will need to put more muscle weight on when he arrives at Penn State, but that will come over time. Overall, Barnwell’s future is bright with the Nittany Lions.
