Big Time Get At A Position Of Need
Anyone who watched the Kentucky football team this year knows the offensive line had its issues. The “Big Blue Wall” didn’t quite perform as it did in years past. As a result, Will Levis was often scrambling for his safety more often than not. To that end, the Wildcats went hard at the offensive line position for the 2023 class. Let’s take a look at yet another recruiting win for Mark Stoops as Kentucky signs offensive lineman Koby Keenum.
Another Alabama Recruiting Win
The six foot four 300 pound Keenum comes to Kentucky from Mars Hill Bible School in Florence, Alabama. He was recruited by offensive line coach Zack Yenser and chose the Cats on July 9th. In addition, former UK great Drake Jackson made a big impression on Keenum. He endeared himself early to the Big Blue Nation by pretending to go for a Louisville hat before picking the UK one.

Despite late efforts from Auburn, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State the Cats held on to his commitment. Currently, he ranks as the 28th-best player in the state of Alabama and third best offensive lineman. When you throw in defensive back Avery Stuart Kentucky holds commitments from two of the top 30 players in Alabama. He plans on enrolling on January 3rd for the spring semester giving him a big head start on learning the system.
Kentucky signs offensive lineman Koby Keenum from Alabama. The question now is where does he fit in?
Chance For Early Playing Time
As we mentioned at the beginning the Kentucky offensive line did perform up to its lofty expectations. Keenum played center in high school but is listed by recruiting services as an offensive tackle. Center Eli Cox returns but his backup Quinton Wilson is a senior. Furthermore, guard Tashawn Manning is a senior and two other Cats, highly ranked Kiyanuta Goodwin and John Young are in the transfer portal. UK’s brought in two players from the portal in former Alabama lineman Tanner Bowles and Marques Cox of Northern Illinois. Even so the opportunity is there for some playing time as a freshman.
