Another Recruiting Win From Alabama

In recent years the Kentucky football team has had a great deal of success recruiting in the state of Alabama. In addition, Mark Stoops and his staff have an excellent track record of putting defensive backs into the NFL. They picked up another big win in the 2023 recruiting class. Let’s introduce you to him and show how he’ll fit in a Kentucky signs four-star Avery Stuart.

Highly Regarded Player

Hailing from Montgomery, Alabama Stuart ranks as the 265th best player in the country according to 247 Sports. He also ranks as the 19th best player in Alabama and 22nd best safety in the 2023 class.  The six foot two 174 pounder from Alabama Christian Academy is the second highest ranked player in Kentucky’s 2023 recruiting class, just a half point below Shamar Porter. Stuart committed to Kentucky on July 6th, choosing the Cats over Auburn, Florida State, Miami (Florida), and Ole Miss. His primary recruiter was the Wildcats’ safeties coach Frank Buffano.

Two Sport Star

Stuart began playing football in the sixth grade when he enrolled at Alabama Christian Academy. However, he started as an offensive lineman before moving to the secondary. In fact, he played cornerback, safety, and even outside linebacker in high school. With all that it was another sport Stuart thought was his ticket to college. As a junior, he earned “All-Metro” Honors when he averaged 20 points a game and displayed a 40-inch vertical leap. He thought about going the basketball route but in the end, focused on football and it’s definitely the Big Blue Nation’s gain. During his junior year, he made 41 tackles and had a very impressive 22 pass breakups and two interceptions.

Chance For Early Playing Time

While he’s listed as a safety odds are Stuart plays cornerback for the Wildcats. They lose senior Keidron Smith and the other corner, Carrington Valentine, announced he’s skipping the Music City Bowl and will declare for the NFL Draft. In addition, Adrian Huey entered the transfer portal. The Cats did pick up Cincinnati transfer JQ Hardaway. However, there’s plenty of opportunity heading into 2023.
