2022 Week Six Heisman Rankings

Injuries and bye weeks often cause interesting movements in the Heisman rankings. However, could we go three consecutive weeks where we have a top-five ranked player drop completely out of the rankings? Did Bryce Young have enough staying power to absorb another missed game? How much will the resurgence of Tennessee and Hendon Hooker come into play? We’ll dive into that and more as we break down the contenders in our 2022 Week Six Heisman rankings.

This week, we have two new additions to the top five of the 2022 week four Heisman rankings. With as wide open of a field as we have this year who could take advantage? Do we continue to see the rise of the Quarterback with Drake Maye getting a shot? How about the running back room? Or, can Will Anderson make a move to get back in it? With that, let’s take a look as we unveil our 2022 Week Six Heisman rankings.

Top Five Candidates

1. C.J. Stroud

QB | Ohio State                                                                                                                                                                         Next Game: 10/22 vs Iowa

Stroud got back to his normal ways with a dominating six-touchdown performance against Michigan State. His outburst along with the Young being sidelined for another week allowed Stroud to put a stranglehold on the top spot. The Buckeyes have a week off before hosting Iowa in what should be a good defensive test for the Buckeye offense.

2. Hendon Hooker

QB | Tennessee                                                                                                                                                                       Next Game: 10/15 vs Alabama

Hooker has set up his team’s gigantic matchup with Alabama this weekend by vaulting himself to the number two spot. He directed the Vols to an impressive 27-point win over LSU in Death Valley which is a rare occurrence. If Hooker plays well and Tennessee beat the Crimson Tide on Saturday then a valid argument could be made for him at the top spot.

3. Caleb Williams

QB | USC                                                                                                                                                                           Next Game: 10/15 at Utah

It was a bit of an inconsistent game for Williams and the Trojans in their 30-14 win over Washington State. Williams threw two touchdowns and did not turn the ball over. However, he did just barely complete over 50% of his passes. Now, the Trojans must travel to Utah fresh off their loss to UCLA. This will be the best defense that Williams has faced all year in PAC-12 play.

Thompson-Robinson joins the parade with a 300-yard performance against Utah in which he accounted for five touchdowns in the 10-point victory. The performance was even more impressive with it being against one of the perennial best defenses in the conference. Robinson and the Bruins have the week off before traveling to Eugene to take on the Oregon Ducks.

Corum jumps into our top five for the first time and the first running back since Bijan Robinson. With three straight 100-yard games including a 243-yard effort against Maryland, Corum has earned his right to be with the signal callers. The Wolverines will have their toughest test of the season hosting Penn State on Saturday where Corum will look to make another statement.
