Highest Rated Receiver Ever For The Cats
Unfortunately this past year Kentucky didn’t have a whole lot of luck against Tennessee. In addition the Volunteer State is a place the Cats haven’t had much success recruiting. However 2021 was the year they finally broke through in a big way with three players from the Volunteer state. In fact they inked one of the best players in the nation. Let’s introduce you to him as Kentucky signs four star Barion Brown.
Big Time Playmaker
The 6-1, 173 pound Brown committed to Kentucky on November 24th. He chose the Cats over some other big time programs including Alabama, Florida State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and TCU.
As a senior at Pearl-Cohn High School in Nashville, Brown did a little bit of everything. Playing both quarterback and receiver Brown ran for 819 yards and 10 touchdowns on only 59 carries. In addition he also hauled in 22 passes for 303 yards and three more scores. If that wasn’t enough he also played defense recording 24 tackles including two for a loss. Brown capped his season by being named the Tennessee Class 4A Player Of The Year. Another future Cat Destin Wade won the Class 6A trophy.

According to 247 Sports Brown rates as the 145th best player in the nation and third best in the state of Tennessee. In addition they list him as the 22nd best receiver in the 2022 class. Now that we’ve introduced you to the player as Kentucky signs four star Barion Brown let’s talk about how he could potentially be used.
How He Fits In
Following the 2021 season Kentucky loses “Super Senior” Josh Ali. In addition there’s also the possibility they lose Wan’Dale Robinson. After his record setting season in which he caught a school record 94 passes with one game to go, it’s seems pretty obvious he’ll at least explore the 2022 NFL Draft.
If the Cats lose both that’s 133 receptions, 1,765 yards and 10 touchdowns that need replacing. There’s a very talented wide receiver room at Kentucky but they lack experience. That means Brown along with fellow Tennessean Keaten Wade and Lexington product Dane Key all have a chance for immediate playing time in 2022. Of course if Robinson comes back then you’re still looking for that number two receiver for Will Levis to throw the ball to.
Again Kentucky signs four star Barion Brown as Mark Stoops puts a bow on the best recruiting class ever at Kentucky. Currently the Cats sit 13th in the nation according to 247 Sports and 5th in the SEC.
