Another Top In State Product Staying Home
Over the last few years Mark Stoops and the Kentucky football staff have made keeping players from the Bluegrass state a priority. With high school football as good as its been in years in the Bluegrass State the local talents are paying big dividends for the Cats. Let’s look at another local player staying home with this Kentucky recruiting profile on Dekel Crowdus.
Teammates Wearing The Blue And White
The 5-10 receiver from Frederick Douglas High School in Lexington committed to the Cats on May 10th. He chose Kentucky over Auburn, Baylor, Cincinnati and Florida State. He’s the teammate of another UK commit offensive guard, Jager Burton.

During his senior season, Crowdus hauled in 25 passes for 331 yards and nine touchdowns. The combination of Burton and Crowdus led the Broncos to the Class 5A semi-final game. He ranks as the 301st best player in the country by 247 Sports. In addition he’s listed as the 51st best wide receiver in America and the third best player in the state of Kentucky. In fact four of the top five Kentucky high school players are headed to Lexington.
How Does He Fit In?
Among the many things Crowdus brings to the table is speed. He ran a 4.4 in the 40 yard dash at the 2019 Opening Regional. His game seems very fitted towards today’s wide open football. As a result he should be a big time playmaker for the Cats and also double as a return man. However when he gets to Lexington he’ll have a new offensive coordinator and system to learn.
Following Kentuck’s regular season finale win over South Carolina Stoops let offensive coordinator Eddie Gran and quarterbacks coach Darrin Hinshaw go. On Tuesday word came the Cats are hiring Los Angeles Rams’ assistant quarterbacks coach Liam Coen. The promise of opening up what’s been a mostly run first offense has to be exciting to the incoming players.
