Ohio State Lands OG Donovan Jackson

Ohio State lands offensive guard Donovan Jackson. Ryan Day has had a lot of success recruiting out of Texas lately, and Jackson is the next one on the list.

Ohio State Lands Offensive Guard Donovan Jackson

Jackson is the seventeenth-ranked recruit in the country by 247Sports Composite. He is the top-rated offensive guard in the country and the second-best recruit from Texas.

Jackson received an offer from Ohio State, as well as offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, and many other schools. As the top player at his position, Jackson drew offers from a total of 32 schools.

He played in the Opening Finals last year with current Buckeyes Julian Fleming, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Paris Johnson Jr., and C.J. Stroud. He also lined up against Ohio State recruits J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer.

At six-foot-four-inches and 308 lbs, Jackson has good size for an interior lineman. He also has long enough arms to play tackle. Both his feet and his hands are technically sound. Jackson has experience with track and field, so moving in space comes naturally. He is aggressive, but not out of control.

His competition in high school was weak, which makes his evaluation a little tricky. Even so, he can still be a starting offensive lineman for Ohio State.

Jackson committed to Ohio State in January 2020. He is another strong recruit from the Texas pipeline and played at Episcopal High School in Bellaire.

Jackson is the twenty-third highest-ranked recruit in Ohio State history, behind fellow Texan Garrett Wilson. If Jackson can get near the level Wilson is at now, that’s a huge win for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State has had more offensive linemen drafted than any other school since 2002. Good offensive linemen are always in demand, so the Buckeyes would love for Jackson to work out. Hopefully, he will be protecting the four- and five-star quarterbacks Ohio State has coming in from the last two recruiting classes.
