Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators coaching staff have signed one of the top punters in the 2020 recruiting cycle. Australian punter Jeremy Crawshaw has signed his NLI to the University of Florida. This is a good signing for the Gators as they’ll need a replacement with Tommy Townsend graduating. Mullen is going an interesting route landing a punter for another country. Crawshaw is the only special teamer that the Gators will sign in their 2020 recruiting class.
Who is Jeremy Crawshaw?
Crawshaw is a three-star punter out of ProKick Australia Academy in Melbourne, Australia. The Florida punter commit comes from a prestigious academy that has developed many top punters. In the academy’s history, they have had five Ray Guy Award winner (Best punter in college football). Crawshaw’s only offer came from the Florida Gators. He committed to the Florida Gators while he was on campus for his official visit.
First, on the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Crawshaw is the 2,898th ranked recruit and the seventh-ranked punter in the 2020 class. Comparatively, on ESPN, Crawshaw is the 13th ranked punter in the 2020 cycle and the #1 recruit out of Australia. Crawshaw is a 6’3” 190-pound punter with a big leg. Being an early enrollee, Crawshaw will have the opportunity to win the starting job as a true freshman in spring camp. However, he has huge shoes to fill as he’ll be replacing one of the top punters in the country in Townsend.
