Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators coaching staff have signed one of the top safeties in the country. Four-star safety Mordecai McDaniel has signed his NLI to the University of Florida. This is a big signing for the Gators as McDaniel flipped his commitment to the Gators last weekend. Mullen added a big safety that can really make a huge impact on the Florida defense. The Gators are in need of safeties as that’s one of their biggest weaknesses. McDaniel is one of three safeties that’s signing with Florida with Tre’Vez Johnson and Rashad Torrence II.
Who Is Mordecai McDaniel?
Mordecai McDaniel is a four-star safety out of St. John’s College High School in Washington D.C. The Florida commit is one of the top safeties in the country. He was a tough get for the Gators as McDaniel was previously committed to the Tennessee Volunteers. McDaniel has always been a highly ranked recruit even after flipping to Florida. McDaniel signed with Florida over Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
On 247Sports, McDaniel is the 204th ranked recruit and the 15th ranked cornerback in the country. On ESPN, McDaniel is the fifth ranked recruit in his area and the 33rd ranked athlete in the country. The Gators have added a really solid safety who could really make an impact in the near future. Being an early signee, Florida has locked in one of their top commits. Mordecai McDaniel will also play in the Under Armour All-American Game.
