2019 Kentucky Recruiting Profile- MJ Devonshire
One of the Wildcats’ biggest needs in the 2019 recruiting class is in the secondary. With the entire unit graduating, getting help for the future is paramount. To that end the Cats picked up a huge late commitment from out of Pennsylvania. Let’s get to know the newest Wildcat with this 2019 Kentucky Recruiting Profile of Marlin “MJ” Devonshire.
A Kentucky Connection
The Cats only offered Devonshire a couple of weeks ago when he made his official visit to Lexington. He came in for the Kansas game and posed with John Calipari after the game.

Calipari grew up in Moon Township, Pennsylvania which is only about 20 miles away from Aliquippa, which is Devonshire’s home. In fact Coach Cal played high school basketball with MJ’s uncle. While not the only reason he picked Kentucky it certainly didn’t hurt.
Beating A Couple of Big Names
The four star player chose Kentucky over home state Pittsburgh and West Virginia. The five foot eleven cornerback ranks as the sixth best player in Pennsylvania and 32nd in the nation for his position.
During his senior year Devonshire recorded eight interceptions including three in their championship game. His Ailquippa sqaud won the Pennsylvania Class 3A Championship going 14-1. They defeated 35-0 to capture their first state title since 2003.
Furthermore he spent time at wide receiver hauling in 27 passes for a 21 yard average. He is also a standout on special teams where his eight punt returns were one off the national record. All of that lead him to be named co-player of the year.
True Blue Fans can check out the newest commit by watching his senior highlight reel. In addition to Devonshire fellow Kentucky also has another pledge from Jay Ward. As a result secondary coach Steve Clinkscale has a couple of big time players who should play immediately in 2019.
