Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators coaching staff have signed one of the top safeties in the country. Four-star safety and Under Armour All-American Trey Dean has signed his NLI to the University of Florida. This is a big signing for the Gators as Dean is one of the most versatile defensive backs in the Florida Gators class. Florida head coach Dan Mullen added a big safety that can really make a huge impact on the Florida Gators defense. The Gators are in need of safeties as they really struggled last season without Marcell Harris and Marcus Maye. Dean is one of three safeties that is signing with Florida Gators alongside with Amari Burney and Randy Russell.
Who is Trey Dean?
Trey Dean is a four-star safety out of Dutchtown High School in Hampton, Georgia. He is one of the top safety prospects in the country. He was a tough get for the Gators as Florida had to battle with Alabama for the Under Armour All-American. Dean started to favor the Gators once Mullen came on board. The Georgia product is also cousins with former Gator safety, Ahmad Black. Dean chose Florida over Alabama, Michigan and Tennessee.
According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Dean is the 249th ranked recruit and the 22nd ranked safety in the country. According to Rivals, Russell is the 186th ranked recruit and the 14th ranked safety in the country. The Gators have added a really solid safety who could really make an impact in the upcoming season. Dean is truly a nice addition for the Gators as he could do a lot of different things. Dean could also be a candidate to be the next nickel in the Gators defense with C.J. Henderson probably moving over to corner.
