Ring US! Georgia Celebrates B2B SEC Champs at G-Day

It was a gorgeous day Between the Hedges yesterday as Georgia celebrated its annual G-Day. G-Day is the culmination of the Spring football season. The red team beat the black team 27-17. While that doesn’t put the future state and debate on black uniforms to rest, the game did provide us with insights into who will be starring for the Dawgs in 2026. We’ll get to some of the biggest performers in a later post, but first, we wanted to put a bow on the 2025 season. Georgia has used G-Day as a celebration point of the previous season. Championship and team rings are often distributed on G-Day. It helps serve as the natural handoff point between the previous season and the upcoming one. On Saturday, the members of the 2025 Georgia Bulldogs got their SEC Championship rings.

Ring Us

Who doesn’t love a little party and some bling? The members of the 2025 team had plenty of fun as they received their back-to-back SEC Championship rings in the locker room on Saturday. Today’s college football players are getting a lot of flak and heat this year. Pundits will often scream from their porches about how players lack a real “love of the game” and are nothing more than just “mercenaries.” Checking out social media on Saturday, it was really cool to see the players’ excitement over their rings. While the athletics department didn’t release all the specs on the rings, we can all agree…Ain’t nothing finer in the land than a B2B Georgia Dawg.

2026 Odds: Ring Us Part III?

Kirby Smart discussed the youth on the 2026 team. To be clear, he is not ducking or trying to alleviate expectations in this season. The 2026 Georgia Bulldogs will look to make it three straight SEC Championships. Taking a look at the numbers and odds from Las Vegas, we may have to schedule the ring ceremony against for G-Day in 2027.
  • SEC Championship Game Winner: Georgia has the second-best odds in the SEC to win the SEC Championship Game in 2026. Georgia is currently at +330 to win the game, just behind Arch and the Texas Longhorns at +310. Before we start breaking out the “nobody believes in us,” we should clarify that Georgia and Texas have clearly separated themselves from the rest of their SEC brethren. Texas +750, LSU +800, Alabama +900, and Ole Miss +950 are the only teams under 1000.
  • Win Total: Texas and Georgia also have the highest win totals in the SEC at 9.5. For Georgia, that just seems low. Sure, we are going to nine SEC games in 2026, but the Dawgs’ non-conference slate is lacking bite. Tennessee State, Western Kentucky, and the retooled trade school on North Avenue round out the slate. Oklahoma and Auburn are the highlights between Hedges. While trips to Tuscaloosa and Oxford will loom large as they did in 2025.

Kirby Smart on the State of the SEC Championship

What is the fate of the SEC Championship? There has been plenty of banter about expanding the playoffs and what that might mean for the SEC Championship. Alabama Athletic Director Greg Byrne came out a few weeks ago in an interview with USA Today, suggesting the iconic game’s day in the sun has passed. “I think the ship has sailed. It’s run its course. It’s a great event. I don’t like the idea of it going away, but I think it’s reality, with an expanded playoff.” That is a brutal quote and unfathomable for many SEC fans, but maybe that’s what happens when you don’t have Nick Saban as coach anymore.
Kirby Smart was asked about the future of the SEC Championship earlier this week in an interview with 680 The Fan. Unlike Mr. Doom and Gloom Tide, Smart understood that the future of the game may be under pressure, but what he did not doubt was that the game is still the pinnacle of college football excellence.
“I think everybody’s entitled to their opinion, too. So, I don’t really care what other people think. They ask me what I think. I love the game. I think the game is about the footprint of our conference, and it’s the greatest football states in the world.” Smart said. “There’s a lot of passion and energy among those schools, and you know, is there a time that I could say the SEC championship might not be there? Yeah, absolutely. It could be headed in that direction, but I love the game. I love the championship factor.”
Sounds like Smart and the Dawgs are locked in, and that 2027 could have another nice ring to it.
