Kentucky Signs Stone Saunders

Highly Coveted Signal Caller Is A Cat

We’re only a few days removed from the end of the season but due to a schedule change, National Signing Day is two weeks earlier. For Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats, they’ve locked down another top-30 recruiting class. One of the key players is a quarterback from Pennsylvania, a place UK hasn’t recruited highly over the years. Let’s tell you more about him, and explain how he fits in as Kentucky signs Stone Saunders.

Record-Setting Passer

Saunders hails from Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Rated as the 42nd-best quarterback in the nation and 16th-best player in the Keystone State Sanders chose Kentucky back in August of 2023.

Saunders held offers from a who’s who of college football including Colorado, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, and Texas A&M. However he’s remained committed to the Cats. Earlier this season he set the Pennsylvania high school record with his 177th touchdown pass.

So far in 2024, he’s thrown for over 3,200 yards with 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions. His Bishop McDevitt squad knocked off Pine-Richland 28-14 last week and will play for the Class 5A state title this weekend against Roman Catholic. Overall Saunders needs 15 completions and 131 yards to set state records in those categories as well.

Now that we’ve given you some of his impressive numbers let’s see how he’ll fit in as Kentucky signs Stone Saunders.

Fighting For Immediate Playing Time?

As we head into the off-season one of the biggest questions around the Wildcat squad is quarterback. Georgia transfer Brock Vandagriff struggled this year and is most likely headed out of the program. While he struggled in a season-ending loss to Louisville  Stoops says he’ll build around Cutter Boley. Gavin Wimsatt was up and down as well. There’s no word yet on his status for next year. With some questions could a freshman come in and get playing time in 2025?

Thanks for checking out this recruiting profile as Kentucky signs Stone Saunders. He’s a proven winner who’ll add a great deal to the Wildcat quarterback room. Keep checking back through the day with Last Word On College Football as we’ll have more profiles on future Cats.
