Kentucky Signs Four Star Javeon Campbell

Another Top Player Stays Home

Over the last few years, Mark Stoops and his top recruiter Vince Marrow have made one thing a priority. That’s keeping the best players in Kentucky at home. One look at the 2025 Wildcats recruiting class shows that fact as nearly 25% of the commits are from the Bluegrass State. Taking it a step further the top three players from Kentucky and four of the top nine are all heading to Lexington. Let’s introduce you to the recruit heading the list as Kentucky signs four-star Javeon Campbell.

New To The Sport

The six-foot-five, 265-pound Campbell hails from Western Hills High School in Frankfort, Kentucky. That’s only 25 miles from Lexington. The Cats have had good success with players from Western Hills as Wan’Dale Robinson attended school there before originally signing with Nebraska. However, he transferred back to Kentucky and set the single-season reception mark for the Cats.

Back to Campbell, who ranks as the 273rd-best player in the nation. In addition, he’s the 26th-best defensive lineman and top player in Kentucky. Those are lofty stats for someone who only started playing football a year ago. This after becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer in basketball. Campbell committed to Kentucky on July 2nd, choosing the Cats over Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, and Miami (Florida.) During his first year of playing football Campbell recorded 12.5 sacks. Not too shabby for a rookie. He’ll play hoops this year as well.

Now that we’ve introduced you to their highest-rated player let’s show how where he’ll fit in as Kentucky signs four-star Javeon Campbell.

Fighting For Playing Time

While playing mostly as an edge rusher Campbell has the ability to shift to defensive end. Kentucky loses J.J. Weaver, who had a great career in Lexington. The edge position is one the Cats have recruited hard over the last couple of years headed by Brian Robinson and Jacob Smith from last year’s class. Since he’s still learning the game Campbell can learn from the other players around him and ease into the college game.

Thanks for checking out this recruiting profile as Kentucky signs four-star Javeon Campbell. We’ll have profiles of more future Cats throughout the day.
