Another Talented Ohio Player Heads South

One thing Vince Marrow and Mark Stoops have done consistently since coming to Lexington is recruit the state of Ohio. Since 2013 a pipeline has developed getting some of the best players in the Buckeye State to Kentucky. As it stands now three members of the 2024 class are from Ohio. Let’s introduce you to one of them who is among the highest-ranked players as Kentucky signs four-star Brian Robinson.

Big Time Defensive Player

The 6-5, 255-pound Robinson committed to Kentucky on October 4th.

Hailing from North High School in Westerville, Ohio Robinson chose the Wildcats over Michigan and Penn State. In addition, he held offers from Auburn, Georgia, Notre Dame, and USC among many others. 247 Sports ranks him as the eighth best player in the state of Ohio and 13th best Edge rusher in the nation. Overall 247 lists him as the 211th best player in America. However, when you use the 247 combined scores Robinson’s status improves even more. His overall 94 ranking puts him 127th in America and ninth-best edge rusher.

Ironically Robinson came into high school as a quarterback who weighed less than 2oo pounds before gaining a whole lot of size and switching positions. He was selected to the 2024 Under Armour All-American Game.

He had a couple of big games during the recently completed 2023 season. During a 23-12 win over Sunbury Ohio’s Big Walnut Robinson recorded seven tackles to go along with a fumble recovery, interception, and a blocked field goal. In what turned out to be his last high school game against Dublin, Ohio’s Scioto he made six tackles with four going for a loss. In addition, he ran the ball four times for 10 yards and a touchdown.

Now that we’ve given you all the pertinent information let’s see how he fits into Brad White’s defense as Kentucky signs four-star Brian Robinson.

Pushing For Playing Time

Fans of the Big Blue Nation know edge rusher and recent MVP of the Battle Of The Bluegrass J.J, Weaver is off to the NFL after the upcoming Gator Bowl. In addition, the Cats lost Keaten Wade, who had 35 tackles on the year. Both he and his brother Destin have transferred to Colorado.

With those two gone Robinson could definitely be pushing for immediate playing time. Kentucky also brought in Jacob Smith, who is also an edge rusher. He along with his brother Jerod are the two highest-ranked players of the 2024 class. The Wildcats look set at a very important position for the next few years.

Again Kentucky signs four-star Brian Robinson, one of the top players in Ohio. Thanks for checking out this player profile and a reminder Last Word On College Football will have more on future Cats throughout the day.
