The four-star defensive end will join a talented Penn State defensive line that lost star, Shaka Toney, to graduation and the NFL. He is listed at six-foot-six-inches and 220 pounds. Townley totaled 42 tackles, seven for loss, in 2020. In addition, he had three-and-a-half sacks from the end position. He has the explosiveness for the position, also playing tight end and basketball in high school. 247Sports Composite has Townley as the third-ranked recruit out of Minnesota. Further, as the 19th ranked strong-side defensive end in the nation.

Townley is a physical player that is not afraid of contact. This is something that the Nittany Lions like on their defense. He will need to add size when he arrives on campus at Penn State, but he has a solid frame to build off of. Townley shows a lot of potential and will do well learning behind Adisa Isaac.
