Four Star Linebacker Chris Oats Commits To Kentucky

Four Star Linebacker Chris Oats Commits To Kentucky

One of the major areas of need for Mark Stoops and the Wildcats is the linebacker position. With Josh Allen, Jordan Jones and Denzil Ware all graduating next season the Cats need to  reload. They got a huge pickup on Wednesday as Four Star Linebacker Chris Oats Commits To Kentucky.

The six foot four 205 pound outside linebacker out of Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati chose the Cats over some national powers. In fact his final list included Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas.

Oats ranks as the 15th best player in the state of Ohio by Rivals by and the 31st best outside linebacker in the nation. Furthermore you can check out his highlight video here and see why the Big Blue Nation should be excited about him.

Even though Kentucky had been recruiting Oats for over a year they didn’t make his list of schools back in October. His original list included the Buckeyes, Sooners and Michigan State. However Kentucky persevered and made the final two along with OSU. When Oats cancelled a visit to Columbus this past weekend it gave the Cats another top player from the Buckeye State.

Ever since Stoops, Vince Marrow and company came to Lexington they have made recruiting Ohio a priority. The plan has proven to be effective as Oats comes from the same school as current Wildcat safety Mike Edwards.

In fact Kentucky how has five of Rivals’ Top 60 players from the state of Ohio committed for next season. Oats joins Brenden Bates,  Darrian Kinnard,  Keaton Upshaw and Quinton Wilson in the 2018 Class.

Filling Positions of Need

Oats joins outside linebacker DeAndre Square as the two incoming linebackers in the 2018 class. Square ranks as the seventh best player in Michigan and 36th best outside linebacker. As mentioned earlier the Cats will be hit hard by graduation next year. The addition of Oats and Square helps fill that void.

Once again the Ohio recruiting pipeline pays dividends for Kentucky as Four Star Linebacker Chris Oats Commits to Kentucky. Last Word On College Football has you covered with all the updates on National Signing Day.
