Maccabi Tel Aviv Brings Aaron Jackson Back to Europe

According to Eurohoops, Jackson has agreed to terminate his contract with Chinese club Zhejiang Lions. The 33-year-old guard has been in Zhejiang since this July. In 15 games this season, he averaged 16 points, 3.4 rebounds, 10 assists, 1.5 steals per game in 35.7 minutes of action. Aaron Jackson isn’t a stranger to the Chinese Basketball League. In the previous two seasons, he played for Beijing Ducks.

Jackson earlier announced the move via his personal Twitter account. The club also made it official. Therefore, they put an end to rumors linking him with other EuroLeague powerhouses such as Fenerbahce Beko and Olimpia Milano. Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv will be Jackson’s third EuroLeague club. He debuted at RETAbet Bilbao Basket in 2011. In June 2012, he signed with CSKA Moscow, where he played for five seasons and won a EuroLeague title in 2016. He also played for Houston Rockets for eight games during the second half of the 2017-18 season.

Upon the injuries suffered by guards Nate Wolters and John DiBartolomeo, Maccabi brought the veteran guard to provide a boost to the backcourt. At 6’3”, he is known for his perimeter defense. Jackson is currently in the USA, waiting for his girlfriend to give birth. He’s expected to join the team next week.

Maccabi, who has recently extended the head coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos’ contract until 2023, is in the fourth place in the standings of EuroLeague with nine wins and four losses. Israeli club is currently on a three-game winning streak.
