Fantasy Premier League is, as always, a major cause for headaches. Four weeks in and the Premier League is full of surprises. Had somebody told me that Chelsea, Aston Villa, Swansea, and Southampton would be the top four teams after four weeks of play; I would have called them crazy. As of now that is the top four. This has caused problems for many FPL players, myself included. So to help out the FPL community here is a list of one player from each position to take out (if you have him) and one to replace him.
Goal-
In- Hugo Lloris- Although many people have transferred Brad Guzan into their teams this week it is a bad choice. Why? Simple, they play Arsenal. Arsenal have scored seven goals so far this season and choosing Guzan would be an ill-made decision. Instead of Guzan transfer in Lloris. Tottenham play at home and have a solid defense and the best part is that they play West Brom. West Brom has only scored two goals thus far this season and can’t really do anything in the final-third of the pitch. If Tottenham can defend well then Lloris should comfortably get six points.
Out- Thibaut Courtois. Courtois is a great keeper and Chelsea have a great defense, but right now the Stamford Bridge back four are all over the place. They have conceded unnecessary goals and have only gotten one clean sheet out of four games. Not only that but Courtois is quite an expensive goalkeeper, he costs six pounds!
Defense
In- Ryan Bertrand- Bertrand is a cheap and reliable option to put in an FPL team. Southampton are in form right now, both offensively and defensively. The Saints have conceded just five goals and with Toby Alderweireld on loan at St. Mary’s things are looking good. They play Swansea who are currently in third place with eight goals for and three against. Bertrand took part in the demolition of Newcastle last week, a whopping 4-0 and not he only did he get a clean sheet but an assist as well. If he can get at least a clean sheet against the Swans then his owners will be looking at six points. Even if he doesn’t then a minimum of two points is acceptable.
Out- Steven Caulker- What else can be said besides the fact that he plays for QPR. QPR have conceded a colossal amount of goals so far(nine), and Caulker has been on the field for every single goal. This week they play stoke, not the most offensive team, but after beating City, Stoke shows it has what it takes to score on big teams and keep a lead as well.
Midfield
In- Angel Di Maria- Under normal circumstances Cesc Fabregas would be the main option but Chelsea will face Manchester City while United play newly ascended Leicester. Last week Di Maria scored once and assisted once. It was also against QPR, another recently ascended team. With the firepower United have look for Di Maria to take part of the massacre that will occur during this game.
Out- Yaya Toure- A shocking choice considering his history in fantasy seasons past, but this season he has been absolutely dreadful for fantasy owners. Not only has he only garnered his fantasy owners a miserly five points, he also costs an astonishing 10.8 pounds. He also faces Chelsea who will look to put Matic on him in order to nullify his effectiveness.
Forwards-
In- Abel Hernandez– The newly arrived man from Uruguay scored on his debut vs West Ham. Now he will face Newcastle, possibly the most out of form team in the Premier League right now. If Hernandez can do what he did last week vs West Ham and get at least a goal then he is one that surely should be transferred in. Reason that Diego Costa, Pelle, Radamel Falcao, Romelu Lukaku, etc are not the number one option is because of A) their price and/or B) their opposition. If they can be transferred in and you are willing to see if it will pay off then do it. If not then Hernandez is a good, safe, (hopefully) reliable choice.
Out- Edin Dzeko– The man from Bosnia-Herzegovina has done very little to secure his place and the only reason he is playing is because Sergio Aguero was injured and now Stevan Jovetic is injured. City play Chelsea and Dzeko will most likely shoot blanks yet again.
Captain- Out of these 7 players Di Maria is the one to give the armband to. He is in form and gets both goals and assists.
These are some of the best players to get and some of the best players to get out of ones team. Fantasy football is tricky and this will hopefully help. Best of luck this gameweek.
