The 34-year-old small forward will hold a player option after the first season of the deal.
Miller, who averaged 7.1 points per game while shooting 45.1 percent from three-point range for the Memphis Grizzlies last year, spent three seasons between 2010-13 playing with James in Miami. Throughout his entire 15-year NBA career, Miller has averaged 11.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while boasting a tremendous 40.9% three-point shooting percentage. James had been recruiting both him and Ray Allen to sign with the Cavs.
Miller did not lack for suitors on the open market, as he drew serious interest from the Denver Nuggets, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Houston Rockets. The Grizzlies had also shown interest in bringing him back before signing Vince Carter. In the end, however, Miller decided that the opportunity to once again play alongside LeBron James was worth the $1.25 million pay cut.
Following the signing, Miller posted a photo of himself in a Cavaliers jersey to his Instagram account:
The caption read: “Thanks to Memphis for a great year!! But I’m so excited to be a part of the Cleveland family and their fans. The only thing you can expect from me is everything I have! Thanks for the opportunity #letitfly”
