Who doesn’t make a wish list every summer? It’s Christmas for football fans. Well this is no wish list; these are easily achievable targets and well within Arsenal’s well known big budget, despite his previous record as being ‘tight’. Who knows, maybe he’ll read this?
Arsenal Summer Transfer Window Wishlisht
I honestly believe Cardiff’s David Marshall would be a great choice to replace Lukasz Fabianski in this coming transfer period. Marshall has seven clean sheets and made 153 saves in a dogfight of a season. Compare that to Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczney’s 16 clean sheets and 111 saves while enjoying a far more organised back four. He is experienced and has 29-plus international caps but Marshall brings a rumoured £8m price tag. One can only imagine his ambitions are to play Champions League football over the Championship and yet he would nott be phased by starting off as Szczeny’s understudy. Alternatively, the latest on the rumour mill and a welcome presence would be Asmir Begovic. The Bosnian is predicted to cost any buying club a mere £8m.
Sagna set to leave for Manchester City? Supposedly the medical is complete and terms of his contracts have been agreed. Serge Aurier is the fan’s favourite. Mine? Micah Richards. Here lies a power house and versatile player who can also play centre half. Richards is reportedly frustrated with a lack of games this season, (a measly two starts). Injury prone maybe, but which coach do Arsenal fans know will nurture these types of players and gets the best out of them? At 25 years old it is time for Richards to have a fresh start and begin a trend of City players coming to Arsenal.
Cesc Fabregas– is there anything you don’t already know about this player? I have to mention him as he’s the strongest link we have with a player at this current moment but I refuse to recycle any of the dreams that are being sold via social network or the tabloids. He’s a class footballer and few clubs would turn him down given the opportunity.
Alexis Sanchez is certainly a wonderful talent. Somehow he has failed to cement himself as a guaranteed starter at Barcelona. Yet with 27 La Liga appearances, he has notched a comfortable 19 goals and ten assists. Sanchez illustrates pace, power and strength in attacking attributes of the game, making himself an all round nightmare for defenders. I don’t think anyone would oppose a £20m bid for the 25-year-old Chilean.
If you’re looking for that defensive midfielder, I personally don’t see the need when Arsenal have Wilshere who can drop deeper. Whilst he may not be a Nemanja Matic or Michael Essien style or stature of player but he is a tenacious fighter and still class on the ball. He’s quoted saying “tackling is a key ingredient in the English game that must never be lost”. According to WhoScored.com, he started ten games from defensive midfield and assisted with two goals in that period. With Aaron Ramsey progressively becoming more goal prolific, Jack might find himself as Mikel Arteta’s apprentice or even successor next season.
I think Arsene still uses the expression “feels like a new signing”, in which case we have recently got the addition of Abou Diaby. There are never any guarantees with Diaby as history demonstrates. With only 137 starts since 2006, it would be great to see him complete a season, having seen the potential he holds first hand.
Arsenal fans are craving a world-class striker, but that is unlikely to happen this summer. Not because Arsenal aren’t ambitious or tight, I just ask: who’s available? Cavani for £60m? Benzema wouldn’t be sold until Real Madrid purchased themselves. Our possibilities are a young player at Nurnberg called Josip Drmic, who scored 17 in 33 games. At 21 years old, Drmic will be more competition to fringe player Yaya Sanogo rather than first choice Olivier Giroud. Secondly and most likely with a buy back clause in his contract is Carlos Vela. Vela was one of the top performers in La Liga this season with 30 goals in 67 appearances, which lifted Real Sociedad to a respectable seventh position. Can he recreate this form and be given a second try in the Premier League? I’m skeptical.
With Theo Walcott, Ramsey and Giroud all fit next season, Wenger knows he’s got goals galore. Add a Sanchez and an adapted Mesut Ozil in the mix & there may be no need for this superstar forward.
