With the playoffs fast approaching, here is a look around the NBA to determine who has been great (tops) and not so great (flops) in the last seven days as the NBA Playoff Chase heats up.
Tops
Phoenix Suns- After some shaky regularity in recent weeks, the Suns have picked it up lately, with three consecutive wins, placing them a game ahead of ninth place Memphis.
Charlotte Bobcats– After securing a place in the playoffs, which seemed unthinkable a year ago, the Cats have gone on a five game winning streak, placing them sixth of the East, which would make them avoid Indiana or Miami in the first round.
Chicago Bulls–A six game winning streak sees them tied with Toronto at third place. Although that battle is rather irrelevant, as who they will face in the semis depends on who ends first, the fact that the Bulls and Noah are playing so well can only be a good sign for the playoffs.
Flops
New York Knicks–The recent back-to-back defeats means NY no longer has destiny in their own hands, and their participation in the postseason only relies on how well Atlanta will close out the last few games of the regular season.
Miami Heat- Two consecutive defeats sees them drop behind rivals Indiana in the battle for Eastern Conference supremacy. Although this may be a tactical decision, the element of pride still has to remain, and not winning the regular season will upset the Heat.
Washington Wizards– Securing a place in the playoffs has installed a little complacency for this franchise, and a two game losing streak sees them drop to 7th place, meaning they are currently set to face Indiana or Miami in the first round.
