Christian Eriksen – Tottenham's Main Man

He has done it again. Christian Eriksen, Tottenham’s midfield maestro was pulling the strings once again in a thrilling 5-1 win over Sunderland. He has really started to find his feet for Spurs as the season draws to a close with five games to go. Eriksen’s recent form has caught the eye of many of his doubters and has proved them wrong by proving that he can succeed at this level.

Providing yet another fantastic display tonight at White Hart Lane, with a goal and two assists, he seems to be finding a new home and is being accepted into Spurs fans hearts with open arms at this moment in time. This gives him a total of nine goals and eight assists this season, which for his first season in the Premier League after joining from Ajax back in the summer, is a great start. Many are now stating that he has been Spurs’ best player this season, rivalling the likes of Adebayor.

The departure of Gareth Bale has seen an injection of money available for Tottenham to spend in the summer transfer window just past and many waited to see how the money would be spent, spending over £100 million on new and existing players. But many have been disappointed with the signings stating that they have not made them impact the Spurs fans desired. Alternatively, Christian Eriksen seems to have shown the fans at White Hart Lane that not all the money invested has been wasted, showing glimpses of talent that he already has with a killer final ball, and the ability to score as well.

So, have Spurs found their new Gareth Bale, who commonly found the back of the net at crucial times for the Lily whites last season, who also provided the winning goal in the 88th minute against Sunderland. Eriksen will find the ball at his feet more than enough during the remaining five fixtures this season, with Tim Sherwood’s future looking imminent AS Sky Sports reporting Spurs are looking to replace him after this summer.

Will he be able to keep that form and motivation for the team available on a regular basis with the new man in charge? I hope so, it has been a joy to watch him play for Spurs this season and long may it continue next season. I am sure that the players will be directed to give the ball to the “Great Dane” as much as possible as everything he touches at this moment in time turns to gold.

With 49 caps under his belt for Denmark, it’s no surprise how level-headed and experienced he may seem. Eriksen may only be 22, but he has proven why he is a great asset to this Spurs side and can make things happen on the pitch. 113 games and 25 goals is not bad, and considering his life in the Premier League has started fairly well, he is well on track for making a name for himself here. In my opinion, as well as many others, he has been Spurs’ best signing out of the seven in the summer, and I believe he can only get better. “Erik sen sen sen, he’s our number 23.” – The Tottenham faithful.
