NBA Tops and Flops of the Week – Thunder, Knicks, Pacers, Rockets

This week’s look around the NBA to determine who has been great (tops) and not so great (flops) in the last seven days.

Tops

Oklahoma City Thunder-With a solid home win the Thunder managed to end the Spurs’ impressive 19 game winning streak, and get back on track in the battle for the top seed in the West, although they are still three games behind.

New York Knicks- Thanks to a crushing win over NY rivals Brooklyn, the Knicks are now set to play in the postseason. If someone had predicted that a month ago, I would’ve laughed.

Washington Wizards– The team from our nation’s capital has secured a playoff spot for the first time since 2008. The future looks very bright for John Wall’s young side.

Flops

Indiana Pacers- For a long time it looked like the Pacers were going to secure the top seed in the East, but with their recent inconsistency (only four wins in their last ten games), they have dropped a game behind rivals Miami. Set to meet in the final of the conference, losing home court advantage could be fatal for Indiana.

Houston Rockets- The Rockets looked set to challenge the Clippers for the third spot in the West, but with a three game losing streak, their hopes of avoiding Portland in the first round have practically vanished.

Atlanta Hawks- How Atlanta are no longer in a playoff spot confounds me. They looked set to play into the postseason, comfortably ahead of New York, and then suddenly they have thrown it out of the window. With only three wins in their last ten, the Hawks are now a game behind the in-form Knicks.
