I for one, never saw this move coming.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Miami Dolphins have signed former Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno to a one-year deal. The 26-year-old Moreno is entering his sixth year in the NFL, spending the first five years of his career with the Broncos.

Miami struggled in the rushing game last year, finishing 26th in the NFL in total rushing yards (1,440). Signing Moreno should help them. In 2013, Moreno had his best season, rushing for 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns with an average of 4.3 yards per carry as the lead back in the high powered Broncos offense.
Since 2012, Knowshon Moreno’s stats have continued to rise, which is good news for Dolphins fans. If he builds off his impressive 2013 season, Miami has a lot to look forward to. Denver meanwhile loses a big component of their offense.
Having said that, Miami still needs a productive offensive line to protect quarterback Ryan Tannehill and now open up holes for Knowshon Moreno. It’ll also be difficult to determine if Moreno was a product of his solid Broncos offensive line, and the dangerous Peyton Manning passing attack or a key component in that record setting offensive performance.
But even if all does not go well, there’s no need to shed gigantic amounts of tears on this signing, Dolphins fans. It is a low-risk move as it is just a one year deal.
For the Broncos, all indications are that they will move forward with Montee Ball as their primary running back. Ball had a strong rookie season behind Moreno rushing for 559 yards with a 4.7 yards per carry average and four touchdowns last season.
