Athleticism: D
Large, prototypical frame as an inline TE. Does not have burst or great speed to threaten the seam. Looks stiff and has some trouble redirecting. Almost only used on underneath routes and as a red zone target. Does not pick up yardage after the catch. Is not creative, elusive, or a tackle breaker.
Hands: A-
Able to extend above his head and haul in the football while in the air. Had some trouble keeping the football once he secured possession. Has surprising leaping ability and can attack the football in the air. Is a big target with a nice catching radius.
Technique: C-
Slow to get out of his stance as a receiver and can get jammed fairly easily considering his size, even on underneath routes. Has trouble separating from defenders and is not able to stretch the seam. Does not get open downfield, but is able to find zones and work back to the QB. Plays strong against DBs and can outmuscle them in his routes and at the catch point. Looks to be a bigger matchup problem for the DBs than LBs.
Blocking: A-
Strong throughout his body. Does not have the best anchor, but can get the job done. Can latch on and control DEs. Good grip strength. Gets pop on contact and is able to create movement. Agile enough to block on the move, but cannot handle edge rushers in pass pro. Is a tough blocker and was a big part of the Hawkeyes running game.
Intangibles: B
Is a smart football player. Saw the field in every game of his career. Is a durable two and a half year starter. Did not have much receiving production throughout his career. Production dipped as a receiver, except in the red zone.
Red Flags: None
Bottom Line: A throwback tight end, who has the versatility to be a blocker and receiver, Fiedorowicz should develop into a starter similar to Brandon Pettigrew or Heath Miller. Does not have the skills and potential to be a Pro Bowler as he makes his money doing the dirty work, but will be a good fit for a team that still uses an inline TE to block.
Comparison: Brandon Pettigrew
Grade: 8.0 (3rd Round)
